The AJC is a mere shadow of its former self. It's a hack piece of shit.

I feel just horrible about the poor widower left yearning for his dead wife's tuna casserole and banana pudding. Sob. I can barely type my comments, as I am overcome with emotion...sob...

That first paragraph is SO wrong!

And then things just get wronger and wronger...

I don't really know where to begin with everything that is so wrong with this obit. I'd start though, if I was some Editor-Big-Ass-Chief at the AJC by firing Ms. Hack immediately. And whatever editor approved this atrocious piece of writing for publication too. Then I'd want to know who hired Ms. Hack in the first place. And I'd want their head on a platter too. Ughhhh....

I mean, "couldn't save her daughter..." WTF does that have to do with the price of tea in China? How does anyone "save" someone who's, presumably alone, and puts a gun to their head and pulls the trigger????

In my unprofessional opinion as a non-writer, this (writer?) is also refusing to take her meds....this thing's all over the place like dog crap (and stinks about as much). Instead of feeling sad, I'm more confused, angry, and just a bit creeped out...

Holy crap, there is so much wrong with that. I don't even know where to begin.

Let's begin by emailing the editors, shall we?

I already have.

wow...that was something...I'm not sure what, but I think, to Jennifer's point, the tuna casserole and banana pudding comments are the strangest.

Who needs news coverage, or book review coverage, or even political stories as we approach an election, when we can get a freshman-English quality melodrama? And I would have marked it down for "busted" rather than "broken." How many column inches did that crap get? At least the obits in the NYT are culturally interesting.

This is an absolutely amazing piece, truly Wagnerian in its scope and tragedy. Someone should write an opera.

Did anyone else catch the irony that she loved the dog because he NEVER LEFT HER SIDE???

Well, except that one time, when he took off across 19 lanes of traffic at rush hour.
