Stupid Parents Today Show
Biggy and I saw the clip of the kid falling yesterday and after I commented about what a great photo op--your toddler leaning against a rickety post at the edge of a hundred-and-fifty-foot cliff overlooking a violent, rocky surf--I joked, "Matt Lauer will have those dummies on the set tomorrow for an interview." Sure enough! Seems the consolation prize for the Darwin Awards is fifteen minutes of fame--Matt & Co. asking, "Were you afraid?"
And who was holding the video cam? Whoever it was never stopped filming.
I read an article, which quoted the mom:
Alaina’s mother Charlotte said she is upset with the Oregon Parks service for leaving such a large gap between the fence rails near such a dangerous spot.
"I guess the more I thought about it, the angrier I got at the state parks because there's just no excuse for that," Charlotte Pitton said.
Hmmm....large gap between the fence rails...dangerous spot...
I wonder if she ever got angry at herself?!

T.Ro, if they will put this on the Today show, they need to have us on their reading poetry. You'd think with the economy in the toilet, an ongoing war, the unemployment rate soaring that Today could find something actually newsworthy to put on the air.
Well, Collin, yesterday they had stupid parents who let their five-year-old almost drown while snorkeling. It was fun to watch that child on camera. I only needed about a minute to know snorkeling was a little out of his range.
Case in point.
"There was nothing dangerous around us."
Um, except the ocean.
I think it's a good thing that we didn't have kids. How and why does the Today Show find these people?
They must be running low on amputees.
Now don't go pitching Lola over some cliff just to get yourself on the TV!
I was at this spot this summer (or it looks similar-->really really steep hill, Pacific ocean far below) and Mr Button and I made comment regarding the lack of barricades --or, in places, NOTHING--vis a vis the utter stupidity of the public, and wondered aloud if parents weren't nervous bringing their small wild ones around such danger!!
im never up in time to watch morning talk shows, but from clips ive gathered over the years matt lauer is a coke face, this may help explain his stupidity.
What is a coke face?
I'm always fascinated at people's priorities in situations like these.
Video camera or daughter?
Video camera or daughter?
Video camera or daughter?
That video should have been a little girl slipping followed by a sideways shot of gravel from a dropped camera. But no, she keps filming. Unbelievable.
