But Merry Christmas!

Click image to read page one (yes, there was more) of the for-real, no-joke holiday letter we got from one of Biggy's college friends and his wife.

oh. my. god. That's like a horrible joke someone would make up. I went through a gamut of emotions reading that; I wanted to laugh out loud, then felt horribly guilty for my mirth, then felt a sort of loathsome disgust for the heart-on-a-sleeve-ness of the whole thing, for if one is close to these folks, they already know this stuff; if not, then the letter was far too personal for a Christmas update. Ultimately, thanks for sharing, even though it did cause me to doubt my own morals!!! Which is what Christmas is all about, right?? I can honestly say I've rarely seen the likes, though I get the impression the letter went on from there (as the last mention was May?) and I wonder what tragedies further bestruck this crew as the year wore onward......Please. Regale us.

Yeah, post the whole thing!! You can't leave us hanging like this. Did that poor person ever get to close their eyelid?

Like button, I was also laughing and then feeling bad about it. Not much, but a little. It is Christmas afterall.

WAY too much info - a simple E had sugery to remove tumor and is fine; M is still recovering from Bell's Palsy would have covered it.

Can't wait to see my parent's Christmas note this year. My Dad writes it and declines all editing offers. He has no use for commas or periods. It's one long run on sentence.

My favorite so far was when I lived on St Charles in VA Highlands with Sharon - good friends, roomates, hetero. My paragraph of Christmas note started with "Kathleen lives with her girlfriend Sharon in midtown Atlanta".

Ok, I'll post page two later today.

And Kath, please send me your parents' latest, so I can post it too.

Since reading this post this morning, fate has dropped a gem in my path. I received the annual Christmas letter from some nuts in Denver addressed to the family who lived here before us. And this is our sixth Christmas in this house, so obviously these people aren't too close. Felon that I am, I have been opening for the last five years (after forwarding sll mail the previous family the first year) and have begun to look forward to this family's drivel er letter. This year, I notice, the entire thing is written......IN VERSE! Very very bad verse. For instance, Michigan is forced to rhyme with "again." And perhaps the worst couplet of all: "Last January mom and I went on a small cruise ship to Costa Rico [sic] and Panama / Incredible country, animals, islands, canal, people & fun time--thanks mama!" Now top that.

This is giving me an idea: the worst Christmas newsletter ever.

It'll be wall-to-wall TMI.
