Last night at the Y, I overheard a six-year-old talking to his pal while playing air hockey:
"My mom drives a silver mini-van. My dad has a little gold car that we can't all four fit in."

Yes, that does say quite a bit- perhaps the mom drives the little car ocasionally-but even then that says a lot-He drives around all day with people looking at his "car." She goes dismissed by all eyes in the family car. What does it say that I am considering a Scion xb where no one in the right mind will want to know who is inside--maybe Clark Howard.
my mom drove the two-tone brown volkswagen vanagon (exchanged out by a two-tone gray vanagon, complete with a fold-out table inside, when the first one's engine exploded) and my dad drove a dodge horizon that we couldn't all fit into.
my mom thought her van was badass; she thought the same of her brand new geo prizm in 1994. my dad would be happy with skates.
