Someday...

George went to Publix with me today, ostensibly so she could supervise the shopping. Really, though, she can't resist anything that involves a list. On the way home, our conversation went like this:

G: I can't wait till I leave for college and I get to make a list of all the things I need. Now, THAT'S an important list.

T: I don't imagine you think any list you make is UNimportant.

G: True, but that one will be VERY important. I mean, I'll need everything. Sheets and blankets, towels, a trash can, my own hairdryer...What other things of yours do I use?

T: Let's see...my lipstick, my razor, my toothbrush, my jogging bras, my underwear...

G: Oh, a spatula!

T: Yeah, and spoons.

G: I forgot all about that kitchen stuff. Dishes, a can opener, potholders, icecream. I'll make a separate list for each room! [Reaches in purse for notepad] You got a pen?

T: We're a quarter mile from the house. You don't leave for a year.

G: Still, I should get started.

georgia needs to come up here and organize my life, my mail and my household. i'll even pay for her airfare and give her free lodging and buy her meals.

or if you have any secret children who live in my area and are as organized, maybe you could tell them to contact me immediately.

georgia sounds like she's an intelligent, organized, responsible girl. Sounds like me.

She should possibly put underwear on the top of her list so she dosn't have to wear her moms.

Puhleeze! Sarah, you should see Mamoo's Tupperware cabinet.

You should see the lists she makes before she goes on vacation. She lists a complete outfit for each day. And you should see our freezer. Nobody organizes year-old frozen meat better than George.

tania's mom: sorry, i'll have to listen to tania on this one. it seems you are no better than me. skills like georgia's can't be acquired; you've either got them or you don't.

I did this exact same thing when leaving for college about 1 year prior. Then I got there and bought duplicates of everything at the college mecca, Target.

I don't know how Georgia does it. I don't even know from day to day if I have clean socks and undies. Sigh.

I love lists. I make lists of lists. Do the things get crossed off of my list in a timely fashion? Well, not so much...but the fun is really in the making of the lists.

Hail to the list makers! I am horribly addicted to them.
