Early A.M. Conversation

TR: I think I'm going to post a screen shot of the FJ Cruiser forum and show everyone what you do all day.

Biggy: Whatever. Maybe I should be visiting Poetry Daily.

TR: Yeah, well if you were camped out on Architecture Today I wouldn't bust you for it. That would make sense.

Biggy: That's because I make my living that way--actual money. It's not just a hobby.

TR: Nice.

Biggy: Why do you always leave yourself open for that? You know I'll take advantage of it every time.

TR: Which shows your extreme lack of imagination.

Biggy: I'm not a "creative writer." [He makes the quote gesture with his fingers.]

TR: You're not coming to my reading at Georgia Tech. I don't want you there. Just so you know.

Biggy: Oh, not only am I going, I've already ordered the t-shirt I plan to wear.

It's going to be similar to the one I wore when I took Georgia to see NSync, only different.

Does Biggy happen to be "oldawg" in the forum? Just wondering.

(by the way, I found your blog through Portfolio Center, just like Minus Five's, LOFAH, Okaysamurai, Flying Conundrum, etc. You guys are the best advertising a school could ask for. You all make people from the design school I went to seem lame.)

But, Biggy, you really DO love Justin Timberlake.

ab--Thanks!

t: how disappointing that all you could think of as a comeback was to disinvite him to your poetry reading. at least you know biggy wants to go, otherwise he would have taken you up on it in seconds flat.

ab: thanks for the compliments. of all the blogs you mentioned, mine is the by far the coolest, but the others are also pretty good from time to time. please introduce yourself so that we don't drive ourselves insane trying to figure out who you are. shoot me an email: sarah@minus-five.com

MF, I don't expect you could possibly understand or appreciate the multi-layered and complex implications of my disinvitation.

But rest assured, Biggy does.

I think it would be fantastic if there were commemorative t-shirts made for Tania's reading...kind of like those t-shirts commonly made in the african-american community when someone dies. It usually features a "really attractive" picture of the deceased when some kind of airbrushed or horrifically type-set tribute to their life. I'll get to work on that.

t: oh i get it, alright. you are disinviting him from your life. that means biggy must like you an awful lot.

mary: please. like you'll be going to her reading. you'll probably be too busy taking a nap.

As if there isn't already enough drama at Georgia Tech...

I'm wearing my new Target 4 buck cleats to T's reading - the sound of them on concrete in autumn is like some kind of boyhood elixir

T, will you remind me when your reading is? If I'm not at one of the 200 Pilates classes I teach each week, I'd love to come. If I do come, I will wear something slutty, absolutly whorish, ultra trampy for you, o.k.? I know I want to see David Kirby read in the spring -- not because I really give a shit about his poems but because he is Will Kirby's dad. For all of you who are ingnorant about the truly important things, Will Kirby is the handsomest doctor ever and won Big Brother 2. Presently, the Evil Doctor Will is kicking serious ass in Big Brother Allstars. The show airs tonight, CBS at 8 before my beloved Rock Star Supernova...

jennifer: since i am tania's agent, please pass all such questions through me. her reading is tuesday, september 26th, 2006.

Jennifer said...

Minus Five, what time on the 26th? What will T be wearing? What is she reading? Is she bringing Stella and Daisy? Will refreshments be served? Is Tommy Lee coming? Dave Navarro? Thanks, MF.

minus five said...

i'll check on the time, but i think its 8 pm.

t will be wearing an acid-washed, black denim skirt that she bedazzled this weekend, along with a boat neck white knit shirt, complete with shoulder pads. the shirt is really cute. it has an iron-on picture of kittens playing with a ball of yarn on the front, complete with glitter highlights. her footwear will be red, alligator skin boots with a steel toe.

she'll be reading one of her poems about being a single mother, drinking too much, or about the first marriage after-party.

stella and daisy can't come. in the past they have proven to be too much of a distraction and anyway, georgia tech has a "no dogs allowed" policy.

no refreshments. georgia tech can't afford it. you've got to sneak your own in, so bring a big bag.

tommy lee and dave navarro hate poetry.

MF, I'm glad the reading isn't until the 26th: that means T will have plenty of time to go by Great Clips and get one of those she-mullets, that's right, party in the back and business up front. If she hurries, she can also get some really long acrylic nails to sport at the show. I'm hoping the nails will be the kind with airbrushed art all over them. Maybe you can design the art ahead of time?

minus five said...

jennifer: i'm one step ahead of you on those nails. i just completed her unicorns and rainbows last night.

I just pissed myself from laughter.

Dang! I just got back from a field trip to Parrish Kohanim's fabulous photo studio, and look what all I missed.

Evidently, you guys don't need ME for my blog.

I'm awfully tempted to get a mullet.

Jennifer said...

T, Get the mullet!
Biggy, Get adult diapers!
MF, Thanks for your excellent work on T's nail art!

now wait! David Kirby's son, Will, is a doc and won Big Brother? I can't handle that. One of my fave poems of all time is Kirby and Will (as a teen) seeing "this guy who books bands" give a "cob" (a rotating full-finger up-yours bird) to a carfull of FSU fart boys and get away with it, but the poem turns somehow into a rumination on the limits of violence . . . or something . . . and the mom/wife, barbara Hamby is just as good or better

Rupert said...

um, that was frat boys, but sometimes typos achieve some higher purpose

Wonderful typo!
